Chet Lepinski - Chet started racing in 1997 with the 1979 Miss Tri-Cities his son Brian gave him. After a crash in 1999 destroyed the original boat, Brian built a new one in 2000. As a Tri-Cities resident, racing the Miss Tri-Cities is special to Chet, who says it’ll be the only boat he ever races. Chet has been a board member since 1998 serving as the club’s treasurer. Chet’s been instrumental in stabilizing the club’s finances, and building a cash reserve. He’s been on the board consistently for six years. Since 2000, Chet has also served as contest director at several different races. He’s run the Silver Cup, the Bill Muncey Memorial and the Columbia Cup over the years. Included among the many other things Chet has done for R/CU are such items as: selling race sponsorships; selling ads to pay for the club trailer; arranged for the donation of the club’s scaffolding; and contributing articles to APBA’s Propeller magazine. But the crown jewel of Chet’s accomplishments on behalf of the club is the signing of Oberto Sausage Company to a three-year sponsorship of R/C Unlimiteds. Chet spends an incredible amount of personal time dedicated to the club, going above and beyond the call of duty. He has done an incredible service to our club, and simply could not be replaced. In 2003, Chet "The Jet" was inducted into R/C Unlimiteds Hall of Fame for his outstanding contribution. This is an amazing feat for someone to do in such a short amount of time. If anyone deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, surely it is he.
