Jack Haugen - Jack just didn't want to run a model hydro for fun. He wanted to win every time out. Although he never was able to win the Gold Cup he did win 11 races in his career. What is really oustanding is his 4 High Point Championships. His first one was with a model of the 1972 Notre Dame. Jack always had a pasion for the Thriftway Too so he shelved the Notre Dame in favor of the "Prune barge". He proceeded to win 3 straight championships with the Too. That is the same hull that Bill Smiley campaigns today [2003]. Had Jack stayed with RCU there is no doubt he would have continued with his winning ways.
