2007-08 R/CU Contest Board .

Membership:
For those interested in becoming a member of R/C Unlimiteds, Here is some basic information. To register a 1/8th scale hydroplane, the cost is $15.00. Since there have been many different hydroplanes that have raced from 1940's to present, the club allows only one 1/8th scale model of each full sized Unlimited hydroplane to be registered within the club. The club has a "Master Hull Roster" maintained by our Registrar. Our Registrar has all the forms and any other information you will need to join our club, and can also inform you as to which boats are still available to register.

our 2007-2008 Registrar, Scott Meyers can be reached at:

1/8th scale plans:

If you're feeling adventurous enough to build your own boat by scratch from plans, you may want to contact Roger Newton. Roger has 1/8th scale plans of actual full size Unlimited Hydroplanes that can be used to make your own 1/8th scale boat. Roger has the plans of most Unlimited Hydroplanes from the early 50s to the present. He also has the information on paint schemes and decals.

Buying Used:

A good way for new members to quickly get into the sport is to buy a used 1/8th scale hydroplane. Fortunately, many of our members enjoy building new boats, and therefore, have older boats which they are willing to sell. These boats can often be found on our "For Sale" page.

Our "For Sale" page can be reached by clicking on the "For Sale" button at the left side of the page, or by clicking on this "For Sale" link.

Decals / Stickers:

To get the proper decals or stickers on your boat, you can visit your local vinyl lettering store, showing them a picture of the boat you wish to make with close-ups of the decals you would like them to make for you. Hopefully they will be able to reproduce them for you. I have found that this is sometimes a more afordable means of attaining them. Another way to get good decals is to visit a shop such as Who specialize in 1/8th scale unlimited hydroplane graphics.

Master Hull Roster:

R/CU is keeper of the APBA's master hull roster for 1/8th scale unlimited hydroplanes. The hull roster lists boats names and dimensions for most all unlimited hydroplanes since the 1950's. It lists actual and scaled down dimensions.

The Master Hull Roster is an Adobe PDF formatted file that will open in a new window.
