Don Mock, from Seattle, is a well known jazz guitarist and video producer, and has been racing with R/C Unlimiteds since 1986. Don is currently the clubs Contest Board Chairman and is also the APBA Scale Hydro Chairman. Mock has produced three popular videos on the sport of 1/8 scale hydro racing.(see ad in the "For Sale" section of this site.) Don is also the Crew Chief for the newly restored "full-size" 1982 Atlas Van Lines and heads up video production for the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum in Seattle.
The 1984 Atlas model was built in 1999 by Don, using composite materials including carbon fiber, fiberglass and aircraft plywood. The boat was the 2000, 2001 and 2002 R/C Unlimiteds High Point Champion Boat. As of 2002, this hull, and Don's 1994 version of the '84 Atlas, have won 19 races including two R/CU Gold Cups.
