Designed and built by Jim Lucero. Length: 29' Weight: 5500 lbs. Width: 13' Powerplant: Lycoming T-55 L-7B Rated at 2650 horsepower.
The White Winston Eagle opened the 1989 season for the Team in Houston TX on May 21, 1989 at the Exxon Blastoff Event. The White Eagle, which only raced in this paint scheme at this event, was troubled by engine issues with the Lycoming T-55 for most of the weekend. As a result, Larry Lauterbach failed to complete Heat 1A. However, in Heat 2A the R.J Reynolds sponsored Team roared back to life taking the victory. Unfortunately this was not enough for the Team to qualify for the final. Later in the season, the Eagle, now painted in its more familiar Day-Glo Red, captured its first ever victory for her R.J. Reynolds sponsor at the Evansville Indiana race, due to a penalty lap assessed to Chip Hanauer (Miss Budweiser), for clipping a bouy during the pre-race battle for lane one. July 9, 1989. |

Built with a good deal of assistance from David and Roger Newton, to which I am most appreciative. Placed 4th in its debut Final, the 2007 Columbia Cup. |
