Bio:

This hull was molded of fiberglass by Dick Casperi (thunderboat rep.) in 1992 as a 8700 hull. I built it into the 1989-1990 Miss Circus Circus and drive it from '93-'99. After taking a few years off I got the hydro bug again. I had lost the registration of the Circus Circus and had to build a new boat. I wanted to rebuild the boat into something else because I didn't have time to wait for a new hull, if I wanted to race the following season (2004). So I talked to Troy McIntire about it and he suggested the '91 American Spirit. I could make the hull into a 8401 hull and build it as the '91 American Spirit. As I researched the boat I found that the American Spirit was formally the backup boat for the '89-90 Circus Circus as was sold to Ron Jones Jr. and Steve Woomer and built into the U-50 '91 American Spirit. This was interesting that I ended up doing almost the same thing as the big boys did. My first outing with the boat I got 1st place for Best of Scale. I want to say thanks to all the people who helped me put this together: Roger Newton Dick Casperi Troy McIntire Mike Gossler |
