Bio:

This model of the 2000 U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto is essentially brand new as it enters the 2003 season. While it was christened (with a piece of beef jerky over the canard) and moved into competition status in September 2002 during the Willamette Cup in Woodland, Wash., it failed to earn points in the last two R/CU events due to “new boat blues” It is a fiberglass hull built by Thunderboat Reproductions in 2002. The boat is modeled after the first U-6 to carry Oberto colors, which were unveiled in the Tri-Cities in July 2000. In the 2003 season, the boat will be powered by an OS Max .65 engine. The paint, graphics and hardware were done by MickNellie Racing Team, with appreciated help from several R/CU members. Nelson has been a member of R/CU since 1999, and in (2003) is the club's statistician.
