The 2002 Oh Boy! Oberto is the same model as last year’s 2000 Oberto, with simply a different paint job but by the time the 2004 season starts, it will have the feel of being a brand new boat. The minor differences between the 2000 and 2002 versions include: the new boat will not have a sleeve cowl over the turbine chute, the horizontal stabilizer will be green, the green paint on the sponsons will wrap under the boat, and the driver’s name will change from Nate Brown to Steve David. This model’s well-documented difficulties in 2003 still resulted in a 42nd-place finish among boat points, having attended 10 races on the Oberto Championship Series. The boat was built in 2002 by Dick Caspari. All paint and decal work was done by MickNellie Racing Team. It is powered by a Kalistratov .67 marine engine. Nelson has been a member of R/CU since 1999, and in 2003-05, served on the R/CU Contest Board..
